28-Still trying to figure things out

No one said it was gonna be easy, but they make it think it will be. I’m still trying to figure things out.

I reflected my actions.  Though of what I might be missing in my formula to be get my first flip.  Why I’m not successful in connecting with investors and  How I can get it going.

Networking

Networking

It’s not hard to see that I need to work on my networking.

In definition networking is interacting with others.  Being an extrovert, I have no issues with that part. However I’ve learned there is a right way to do it.

wanting to figure things out, I literally needed to google “How to network”.

I’ve discovered I don’t have the right intension when going to meetings or entering a group of people that I could network with.

“What’s in it for me?” Needs to change to “How can I help?”

How to network the right way.

After reading the website above,  I concluded I need a lot of work on myself.

I decided to connect with some of my “friends” on facebook.   In reality, these friends are strangers that we share interest in real estate with.

I messaged on of them who invited me to a zoom call meeting.  We shared our journey as BlackcardU students.

I shared my struggles and he gave me a nice goal to achieve every time I physically go to an event of networking.  Grab at least 3 business cards or connections during my event.

I actually attend a local event in my hometown that same night.

I follow a group on facebook called Moncton REIO and since Covid, they recently been scheduling some monthly meeting with a host that talks about any particular subject related with Real Estate Investing.

I successfully connected with 4 individuals.  2 cards and 2 facebook connections.

Can’t wait till the next event and test my new skills on who to network.

Webinars and Bootcamps

Networking is certainly one thing that I need to work on.

Although they are some bootcamps and webinars available, they do not all come for free, and most of them are not in my area.  The closest bootcamps are in Ottawa or Halifax.  I just do not have the money to attend.

“Halifax not that far from Moncton” you may say.   Your absolutely correct. It’s only -/+ 2 hours away.  Well, don’t forget eating, hotel room, and the fact that my 13 year old stays at home alone during my weekend.  Meaning getting someone to take care of her for 3 days.

The free Webinars don’t give out much information.  They are giving to you for free as an introduction to the ones they want to sell you.  Encouraging you to purchase their courses or classes by telling you what you could or should learn on the next webinars.

The ones I have attended didn’t teach me much about stuff I don’t already know.  I feel Webinars are their only to waste your time in things you could do in order to progress.  And on top of that, you can’t network with the others online.

Figure things out

Still wondering if I am actually figuring things out.

My intension is not to fail.  However, If I fail, I can’t give up to be able to succeed.

I’m still looking for a job. Got some of my friends to review my resume and did a few changes on it.

With my new resume, it wasn’t long I got a reply for a job interview.
